Children Growing Up in LiverpooL

C-GULL

Improving the health and wellbeing of children and their families.

Being Part of C-GULL at Liverpool Women’s Hospital

From 1st September 2025, if you are aged 16 or over and have booked your pregnancy care with Liverpool Women’s Hospital, you will automatically be enrolled in the Children Growing Up in Liverpool (C-GULL) programme.

C-GULL is a research study following 10,000 families from pregnancy through childhood and beyond. It looks at how experiences in early life affect health later on and aims to improve care for future generations.

You can read the C-GULL information sheet or watch our short animations to find out more about the study.

Liverpool Women’s Hospital is using an opt-out approach for C-GULL so that as many families as possible can contribute to this important work. This means you are included in the study unless you choose not to take part.

Taking part helps create a fuller picture of the health and lives of families in our city, supports NHS research, and contributes to discoveries that can benefit children and families now and in the future.

If you do not want to take part, you can opt out at any time by completing the opt-out form on this page. This will not affect the care you or your baby receive.

Link to opt out form and an updated participant information sheet will be added on 1st September for now there is further information in the FAQ section

Please watch our animation to find out more about the C-GULL study.
